King’s Gardens is a 17-acre garden located in the centre of Southport Town Centre, on the Promenade. The gardens are a hive of activity all year round and are a busy tourist attraction on the Southport seafront.
The gardens have been restored to their former glory with Victorian shelters and the Venetian Bridge showcasing the beauty of the park, the gardens have sprung to life with an array of colourful flowerbeds and displays, lovingly maintained by the community. Throughout the year King’s Gardens is host to some interesting events, including an outdoor cinema.
Windmill Animal Farm
Located in the nearby town of Burscough, Windmill Animal Farm was first opened to the public in 1992. It offers visitors the chance to experience the every day running of an actual working farm while still having the chance to watch, feed, touch and play with the animals.
It’s not just farmyard animals you’ll find there though. The ‘Reptile Area’ in the main barn is now the permanent home for Critters2You and most of their amazing collection of critters from around the world including bearded dragons, crested geckos and jungle jaguar pythons!
The Atkinson is Southport’s beautiful home for music, theatre, art, poetry, literature and history, located in the middle of Lord Street in Southport.
