Southport Pleasureland sponsors Southport Trinity Cricket Club

Southport Pleasureland are delighted to have the opportunity to sponsor our local cricket club, Southport Trinity, in a couple of forthcoming matches.

On 4th July, the 1st XI will play Hindley St Peter’s on home ground in Roe Lane, Southport. As it stands, our local team is placed at the top of their league while the visitors sit fairly comfortably mid-table. Trinity also play the same team away on 27th June so they will be hoping for double glory.

Covering a wide range of ages from teenagers upwards, Trinity’s 1st XI are unbeaten so far in the league this season and are working their socks off to take the title for the third year on the trot. Wins against St Peter’s should cement their leadership and give them an unassailable position in the league.

Pleasureland’s next sponsored match is on 11th July when Trinity’s 2nd XI play away against Dalton, a team based near Ashurst Beacon in West Lancashire (so they probably benefit from altitude training!).

The 2nd XI are also doing well in their league, sitting in just second position whereas Dalton are again comfortably placed mid-table. Trinity 2nd XI just need to get a few good wins under their belts to be on their way to their own league championship this season.

The team is similarly made up of a mix of ages showing that the club, which has been around for over 100 years, has keen membership from grass roots levels right up to over 60’s.

To help raise awareness of the club and also funds, they are hosting a Family Fun Day on 12th July with Dads & Lads cricket matches, a giant raffle, stalls, bouncy castle, BBQ, bar and disco – and it’s all free to enter

These are just three opportunities to support your local club so do try to get along to enjoy the sound of leather on willow and help the teams on their way to cricketing glory!
