Does the theme park close when it rains?

Read up on our rain check policy to find out

Our rain check policy

Southport Pleasureland is an outdoor attraction and many of the rides are open-air. This means that for the safety of visitors (and staff) we will close in extreme weather – and we may suspend rides in periods of heavy rain.

If you have pre-booked tickets for a rained-off day, you'll get an email from us as soon as the decision to close has been made. This email will give you all the info you need to rebook a free, like-for-like visit.

The finer details

If we are forced to close because of rain or other bad weather, you're entitled to return for a free, like-for-like visit within the same season. However, you'll have to buy new tickets for anyone not on the original booking.

This applies only to visitors who have booked their tickets online in advance.

Please note that this policy doesn't apply to Bank Holiday weekends or special events. Please check the booking page to avoid disappointment.

No cash alternative is available and tickets can't be resold. Car parking and other charges still apply.

What to do if it rains

Southport Pleasureland is mostly open-air – so do your bit to avoid being caught out by the big bad British weather.

Here are some tips for what to do if you visit us on a rainy day:

  • Make sure you check the forecast before setting off and dress appropriately.
  • If it's wet, bring a poncho or raincoat. The sea winds can get a little feisty!
  • Shelter from the wind and rain in the covered areas and explore the indoor rides and attractions.
  • If the park has to close because of rain, check if you're eligible for the rain check policy.

Your experience on the day is our priority. We do all we can to keep the rides running – but sometimes, it's just not possible.
